A quick update

Jerry has been pretty out of it over the past 12 hours since they started him on the dialysis machine. They have kept him fairly sedated to ensure that he remains calm.

Due to the addition of dialysis on a continual basis, the hospital staff has asked that we only have 2 people in the room at any given time so that we are not in the way of the machines and the nurses ability to check on Jerry if needed.

We'll continue to watch over him and see how things go- but for now, stable is good. :)

  1. Yes, stable is good. Sherri - thank you so much for your updates, we have been following your blog very closely. Jerry is a very special person to all of our family but particularly so for my 8 and 9 year old daughters. Please tell him Lucy and Ethel (Jerry's nicknames for them) have prayed and shed tears for him. Their classrooms at school have his picture on the wall and they pray for him too (the beauty of parochial school - prayer!). Thanks again for the regular updates - Jill, Jim, Maeve, Maggie and Evie Lenox (next door to neighbhors to Steven and Chris from their KC days)

  2. If you would like me to be one of the two to sit with Jerry anytime, day or night, please let me know. I don't live far away and it would be my honor. If someone needs a break for other family matters or even for a cat-nap, call on me! All of my prayers are with you. Love,

  3. If the entire family needs a break, Cliff and I would be more than willing to come and sit with Jerry for one of the shifts. Just let me know and we will come right over.

  4. Same goes for me if any one needs a break or some baby sitting any time day or night! Just what ever please feel free to let me know!!! I also have a twin mattress and a blow up mattress I would be more than happy to drop by Jerry's house to help with the sleeping arrangements!

  5. We are glad to hear Jerry is stable. We check the blog several times a day to stay updated and all of you are constantly on our minds. Amanda checks in a couple of times a day from ISU to see how things are going. You are loved and supported by many even those who can't be close right now. Let us know if we can do anything else from here.

On a happy note - I did not know there was another grandchild on the way. I am assuming it is Tonya but whether it is Tonya or Tracy CONGRATS!!!

    Love and prayers,
Ginger, Tom, Amanda, Brandon, Cameron and Dustin

  6. So happy to hear that he is stable!! Thanks for keeping us updated, we hate being so far away but please know that all of you are constantly on our minds! We love you all and we are praying! My little grandmother has a pray chain going with the little old ladies at church and she has contacted the Sisters of Perpetual help which are Carmelite nuns out of Huntsville Alabama; they are saying daily prayers for Jerry. With all our love, The Kramers

  7. Hello to the Cahill Troupe!
Very glad to hear things are stable for Jerry today and thank you all for the easily visualized updates.

My heart, tears, thoughts & prayers are with Jerry constantly and I hope someone will give him a hug for me. I'm in Elvis-land (Memphis) or you'd have me cluttering up his ICU too!!

May his rest be peaceful and his dreams 'happily vivid'.
    Love, Cynthia
